teaching philosophy

As a dance educator,
I believe that an integral mechanism for pedagogical growth is maintaining the lifelong mindset of a student.

Drawing on a ballet and contemporary lineage, I emphasize students’ holistic understanding of movement through repetition, logical step progression, discussion, historical context, and most importantly, practice.

I am particularly invested in shifting traditional ballet class hierarchies to facilitate a more accessible and open method of learning ballet technique. With an emphasis on injury prevention, I aim to provide students methods to practice ballet that both fits their dance aesthetic and maintains the essence of ballet technique. My goal is to impart the balance between discipline and joy dance challenges us to find through attention to dancer mental and physical health in a positive and functional environment.
